Dera Sacha Sauda, whose main centre is located in Sirsa city, is a social and spiritual welfare organization that preaches selflessness and humanitarianism services to others. With a devout following of over fifty million people, it was founded by Beparawah Mastana Ji Maharaj on 29th April, 1948. Beparawah Mastana Ji Maharaj was born in Baluchisthan, and his primary aim with Dera Sacha Sauda was for spiritual awakening among the masses, to create a better world and to uplift humanity. This is a confluence of all the religions, and offers due regards to every one of them – in fact, devotees from various faiths, be it Sikhism, Hinduism, Muslim, Christianity, or Judaism, visit Dera Sacha Sauda equally with faith and devotion.

Guru Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh
The popular slogan of this institution is Dhan Dhan Satguru Tera Hi Asra – which reflects the kindness of our savior, God. The Maharaj would preach about adhering to a path of humanity, truth and hard, honest work. In 1960, Param Pita Shah Satnam Singh Ji Maharaj took over the reins from Beparawah Mastana Ji Maharaj and he served humanity for thirty years thereafter. He was incarnated at Sri Jalalana Sahib in 1991. The current leader at Dera Sacha Sauda is Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh. 

Community Clean-Up Drive
Under his guidance, Dera has made a solid name for itself through its humanitarian efforts. He formed a welfare and disaster relief organisation called Shah Satnam Ji Green-S Welfare Force, which now has more than 44,000 doctors, rescuers, engineers, paramedics, and tradesmen participating. He started a Cleanliness Earth Campaigns in India in 2011 with the aim of cleansing planet Earth. Additionally, Dera has also won awards for the largest blood donation drive, largest eye health screening and one for maximum number of trees planted globally. The virtues of his place extend to endorsing marriages without dowry, protecting daughters from heinous fetal murder and solemnizing the marriages of harlots by inspiring them to quit their ungodly profession. Dera has also set up educational institutions to provide materialistic, spiritualistic, and holistic knowledge as well.

Furthermore, Dera has been running three specialty hospitals in Sirsa wherein health services are provided to pteints at no cost. They have their own eye bank, one of the largest ones in the international circuit, called Poojaneeya Mata Kartar Kaur Ji International Eye Bank.

Achievements

Crusades against Social Evils
The Dera works towards the eradication of prevalent social evils such as female foeticide, prostitution and dowry. Through the leader’s preaching, approximately 1500 men have decided to marry ex-prostitutes and give them the chance at a new, respectful life.

Academic Achievements
Several schools have been founded and are being run by the Dera, wherein scholarships and free education is provided to the needy. They also delve into holistic and spiritual development, in addition to regular education. The students of one of their schools created quite a stir in the 12th Asian Games.

Medical Care
Dera runs three hospitals that provide allopathic, ayurvedic, homoeopathic and other natural treatments. In fact, one of their hospitals, called Farishta, featured in the Limca Book of World Records for its massive size, efficiency and features. They also conduct a heart attack prevention program called True Happy. 

Agricultural Training Centre
The Dera has their own advanced agricultural training centre which implements the latest technologies to promote organic farming in the most efficient way, since farming is the prime source of income for the organization and the residents of Sirsa as well. 

Adoption of Abandoned Daughters
Young females who have been the victims of being deserted, orphaned, or rescued for foeticide are readily adopted by the Guru, who cares for them as if they were his own. Thus far, a total of twenty one girls have been adopted and are thriving in a nurturing environment. 

Saviour of Life
Dera Sacha Sauda conducts massive blood donation camps all over the country, and their scale has been recorded by The Guinness Book of World Records many times – this even earned them the nickname, Blood Pump.
